Origins
Comprised of splintered and fractured family groups, the Glimmelschläger species were forged in countless millennia of inter-tribal raiding and pillaging. This all came to a head during an auspicious series of campaigns against them by neighboring civilizations that had deemed the Glimmelschläger savages. During what would come to be called the Éèureka Jamboréè, representatives of each main family group came together to discuss this turn of fortune. These numbered:
Camuséè, the Distracted
C’omte’éè, the Hulking
Simone’nee’Simonéè, the Bel Esprit
Déèscartéè, the Poltroon
Althusseréè, the Mendicant
Bartheséè, the Banausic
After nights and days full of battles for honour and who got to eat the biggest portion, eventually a temporary truce was agreed upon. Each representative formally declared their tribe, named after themselves. They also established copulation rights between each other, trading, and other highly important negotiable points. To help hammer home the importance of such pacts, a series of small parties from the neighboring civilizations were burning and destroying outlying villages in tribal domains. A Grandéè Sortéè was planned, and the Glimmelschläger set about turning the situation on its head.
Several centuries gone by, and the planet was now devoid of anything but the 6 Tribes, and their captures. Raiding was in their blood now though, and to ensure that those tendencies were not once again turned inward, a new plan was needed. A new Éèureka Jamboréè and Grandéè Sortéè were meted out, with the twinkling gems in the sky the target. And thus, the Glimmelschläger were unleashed on an unsuspecting universe.
Their new life among the stars did not start out well, eking out from buckets of lives, a meagre holdfast on an insignificant third moon of a nondescript gas giant in a nowhere system. Raids were constantly rebuffed by peoples in neighbouring systems, and the costs were proving unsustainable. Something had to give, and soon, it would. A Simone’nee’Simonéè blood wife named Beausoleil spent weeks bribing perimeter guards, and meeting with blood wives from other tribes. Blood wives were concubines taken during Sortéè from rival leader families, their stature ensuring compliance through relationship. Tired not only of this constant fear shared by all women of all tribes, but also of being no more than breeding assets, Beausoleil had hatched a cunning plan to appeal in the short term to existing rulers with raiding successes and booty, but to the tribes as a whole with a roadmap to continuing success. Bribes in place, and fellow conspirators waiting in the wings, she launched her coup while the tribes were out on another futile raid. When they returned, they found the main gates unmanned but barred. With the leaders threatening to kill all the tribal members within, Beausoleil appeared above their heads, with the guardsman in tow. Throwing a single document down to the shouting and boisterous raiders, silence soon erupted, deepening into seething anger at its contents: a clear, concise outline of exactly how long it would take the raiders to break through the walls, and how much foodstuffs they had. It was a deadman's calculus. The discordant silence was soon punctuated by dull thumps, then splatters, as one by one the previously boisterous leaders’ heads were removed and thrown against the barrier. One by one, those tribes were let back in, disarmed and powerless.
After this, Beausoleil moved quickly to set up a power sharing Council with each of the 6 major tribes’ blood wives. Within weeks of enacting and enforcing her new edicts, the raiders were appeased when they easily smashed a previously impervious target. Her power now ensured, she codified a new mandate: Trade. Trade at all costs.
Millennia on, the Glimmelschläger still raid, they still encapture others and they still wage wars, but it’s all calculated first.
Morphology, Traits and Proclivities
Camuséè
Extraordinarily massive. Known to take flights of fancy mid-battle, they are the main elite troops. The brightest among the Glimmelschläger.
C’omte’éè
Logical, orderly, rational, are all foundational aspects of this tribe and its ethos. They are not especially bookish however, and are more oft found employed as hostile takeover agents, spies and provocateurs.
Simone’nee’Simonéè
Rarely on the front lines, members of SnS instead keep the Syndicate afloat financially and organizationally. One Toe has threatened their leaders more than once, only to find himself cast out of his own airlock by his own retinue.
Déèscartéè
Fleet of foot and xenomorphic build define most of this tribe. Excellent at athletics, their mating rituals are based around obscure games of sport and then killing all other suitors. On the front lines, they rely on their speed to move to strategic spots to do as much damage as possible.
Althusseréè
Money mavericks, they are especially apt at plundering convoys and traders without much destruction or collateral damage. . Are also noted gourmands of mushroom delicacies, which makes for uneasiness in the company of some of their allies.
Bartheséè
Tinkerers, experimenters, occasional self immolaters, are just some of the many traits this tribe has in spades. They build, repair and service the many ships and other mechanical devices the Syndicate owns or captures.
Lesser tribes make most of the shock and main combat troop numbers when negotiations and trade break down, or during larger raids. These tribes are exclusively male. In opposition to the near nothing worn by the major 6, tribesmen seek to wear only the most they can, whether that be obnoxious, ostentatious or olid.
These are:
Boniipartéè
Blithering idiocy must have been an aphrodisiac when this tribe was coalescing from its lesser constituent parts, as rare is the non-Glimmelschläger who displays anywhere near the dearth of mental acumen this tribe does. Cunning and guile are in short supply, but inexplicably, they are excellent in-the-moment strategists when conditions have gone tits up. One Toe is their most notable current member, and Chieftain.
Poubelléè
Odiferous to the extreme, and used as bodyguards and living battle standards. Their tribe is always small in number. Brash, arrogant and lack of social tact tend to lead to their vocal organs being removed by employers.
Pasteuréè
Obduracy is their biggest export and trait. Last line defenders, they embody the strong silent archetype. They only propagate via surrogacy within the Major 6.
